Single-dose Methotrexate : Non-surgical Treatment of Unruptured Ectopic Pregnancy

|
Methotrexate treatment of unruptured ectopic pregnancy is safe and effective, and preserves reproductive potential. Previous protocols have required multiple methotrexate doses with citovorum rescue. The purpose of this study was to determine
whether
patients with an unruptured ectopic pregnancy would be treated with single-dose intramuscular methotrexate without citovorum rescue. Four patients were eligible for this treatment protocol. Three patients(75%) were successfully treated without
significant side effect. Another five patients were also successfully treated with intraamnionic methotrexate. Single-dose intramuscular methotrexate appears to be an effective medical treatment for the unruptured ectopic pregnancy.
